We choose previously unused vinyl flooring and coat the underneath surface with two to three coats of artists’ canvas gesso, painting it with water-based paint free of lead and other toxics, and finally apply five coats of acrylic floor sealer to the painted top and sides of the vinyl.  The back of the mat looks like a vinyl floor sample.  They are not designed to be reversible.  Our Pet Food Mats are made in the USA and, unlike many toys from China, our products and paints are completely lead-free.
